George T. Stagg 2025 came out of the barrel at 142.8 proof, 71.4% alcohol by volume. Distilled in a single spring season of 2010, aged fifteen years in Kentucky's heat and humidity, bottled in the fall of 2025 with no water added and no chill filtration. The proof is handwritten on every label because Buffalo Trace does not know what it will be until they dump the barrels.

Most bourbon that strong is young, because young whiskey holds proof and old whiskey surrenders it to the angels. Fifteen years in a Kentucky rickhouse and still 71.4% means these barrels found the heat and gave up water instead of spirit. The result is a bourbon that drinks exactly like that sounds: concentrated, dense, and layered in a way that only time and barrel proof together can produce.

• Nose: Dark cherry, vanilla extract, tobacco leaf, charred oak, and a deep undercurrent of brown sugar and leather

About George T. Stagg and the Distillery

George T. Stagg partnered with E.H. Taylor Jr. between 1865 and 1890 and built what was then the largest distillery in the world on the banks of the Kentucky River.
